I work a perm roster of 7pm-7am.
I try to hit the gym around 4:30pm/5pm depending on how much sleep I need!
I find the gym is alot easier before your shift
Your cycles are probably mixed up so I'd go with a time when you feel at your best. It could be just when you get up in the day time or a couple of hours before you start your shift.

i don't know if there is a best time to workout, but i also work graveyard and i know that the best time for me is right after work. if i tell myself that i'll get there later i usually don't. either because i don't want to get up or i get involved in other things and there aren't enough hours in the day. it helps me sleep too. i've never slept well working graveyard. i guess the best time is one that you'll commit to.
