How to build muscle?!

Question: Okay i am trying to form a split workout and need to know which is better.

SHould i do this:

Mon- Chest and triceps
Tues-Cardio- Running
Wed.-Back and Biceps
Thurs- Cardio-Swimming
Fri.- legs and abs
Sat- Rest
Sun-Rest

Or this:
Monday- Upper body- Chest, back, bic, tri., shoulders
Tues- Cardio-Run
Wed- Lower body- all legs
Thur- Cardio- Swim
Friday- Upper again
Sat- Rest
Sun.- Rest

Feel free to add anything or alter to make it better.

Im just not sure if i should work upper all on one day and lower on all one day and do it twice a week, or break the body parts up and only do it once a week. Thank you.

You REALLY should rest every other day other than weekends. This allows better muscle gain. You can't continue working out without giving them time to rip and grow. You should do the second list as long as you rest between days. And stretch before and after workout for 15 seconds each body part. This will help A LOT.

Before you do ANY of those listed above, you should get a really healthy diet, and make sure you're not overdoing either of them. As for me, i would prefer the bottom one.

Go with the first schedule. I find that it's harder to curl when I bench pressed on the same day, even though they're working different muscles. I personally work upper body on one day, and lower body and biceps on the next day.
