What could I drink/eat in place of a protein shake?!

Question: I was drinking mine this morning and I had to do everything I could not to gag. It doesn't even taste that bad; I think it's the texture. What could I drink or eat in place of the shake? I'm really looking for something healthy that's fast to eat in the mornings, as I don't have a lot of time.

Thanks.

LOL a protein bar by snickers! Thats funny, Im sure it tastes good though.

Heres what I do. You can get the KASHI bars thats 6-8 grams of protein. Kashi Waffles...6 grams, GNC sells a liquid protein juice that is 15 grams of protein and it tastes like mango or grape. You can also take Brown or Blue Green Algae pills to get great protein.

There are plenty of options without having to eat raw egg in a smoothie or so called protein bar that is full of bad sugars or way way expensive.

well since its morning i suggest eating eggs. the white part. dont scramble it.

or just by those protein bars from snickers

how about licking something untill it gets creamy
and oozing

let me know.....

holla@urgirl ;P

How about some yogure, or granolla, or oatmeal, or a breakfast bar. Toast with peanut butter. Cereal with lowfat milk. OJ. Most important meal of the day! (Now, I need to take my own advice.)

luna bars
smoothie with less protein powder
Morningstar veggie sausage patties. 80 cal. each & 10 grams of protein each! they taste good, you can eat them on the go, and 2 are enough to keep me going until lunch.

You can use egg whites to make a smoothie.
Eat the whites of a boiled egg
A spoonful of peanut butter on whole wheat toast

Texture? Dry drinking it with milk. Use either a blender or a shaker. Don't use a spoon, can't properly mix it and it will taste gross, chalky, and have disgusting texture.

If you entirely can't look for protein bars. Myoplex makes one that has 30 grams of protein. Snickers Marathon I just bought yesterday has 28 grams of protein. Clif bars have 10-11 grams. Perfect zone have about 14-15g. Just look around see whats good for you. =)

You probably just need to try a different brand. Else, blend it (chocolate flavored whey) with ice, milk, peanut butter (and a banana) for a delicious protein shake that is hard to beat. Other suggestions:
Protein bars; beef jerky; fruit
(oh, and for that comment above - bananas don't have any significant protein in them)
If you have a George foreman (turkey breakfast sausages - quick and taste great)
smoothie with less protein powder

I would try another brand (as many have their own favorites). Whatever brand you choose, make sure it is Micronized--meaning it is intended to mix more easily. A popular brand of this sort is Optimum Nutrition. Also, if your mixing with water, make sure its is luke-cold, too cold will cause it not to mix as well.

Try those "Light" yogurts, like the ones from Yoplait. About 100 calories, and full of protein [have two at breakfast]. The raspberry and strawberry ones are especially delicious.

that would really depend on how much extra time you have in the morning!

I think breakkie is a really important meal of the day and for some reason shakes just dont sit well with me.

I know they can have heaps of nutrients in them, but to me its not natural to replace food with shakes.

Why not have a bowl of cereal and a piece of fruit. Cereal doesn't take long to eat.......and you can eat fruit while you are driving.

Maybe wake up earlier?? :)

maybe i should e-mail you my answer!!!

Bananas are great for in the morning. You can eat them while you drive, plus they have fibber, protein, vitamins; all that good stuff from a more natural source.
