Size......who is to blame? Are you happy ? A question for women.....?!

Question: Would women all be happy to be the size nature intended and not constantly dieting if they were 'allowed' to be that way. I have noticed that a lot of the diet questions asked on here are from women.....

Is this because men are 'visual', women think it all comes down to appearance? (and before anybody has a go, I know not all men are the same and yes, some women do that as well).

Is it the media causing the problem.....is it down to skinny celebs.....or something I am missing completely.....?

Would you diet for somebody else or for you...? Or are you one of those very rare people who are happy with their size....?

Are women just fighting a battle they can't win .....?

Thoughts please.

I used to be a size 8, & went up to a size 12 in the last couple of years. I don't give a damn what the media says - I feel much more feminine now, & people tell me I look better for it!
i definately think the media has a huge influence on most women, which is a shame, cos from what I know of blokes, they prefer a bit of something to grab on to!

I think as long as your happy in yourself and your size does not pose a threat to your health, then it should not matter what other people think, no-one is perfect!

But the media does put alot of pressure on us ladies as they portray that everyone should be a size zero (which looks horrid) and as for the men, they usually prefer a bit to hold on to, so say yes to curves!!!

Yes, most women are fighting a battle they can't win.
I used to be happy with my body when I was 21, now I'm 26 some weight has gone on which is now more difficult to lose, I'm experiencing cellulite for the first time in my life & I'm constantly trying to diet.
I work in a gentlemans club (strip club) & THAT makes me paranoid & aware of my weight as I'm being compared to all the skinny 20 year olds...If I had a *normal* job, I would be more happy with the way I look (as i look slimmer with clothes on lol)
However, men are visual, BUT there are some big girls at my work who regularly earn more than some of the stereotypical skinny girls...so not all men like skinny.

Men don't like twigs. Fashion designers like twigs because fashion designers are largely homosexual men who want their models to be attractive to them. This means that the models will starve themselves down to look like a skinny guy instead of a voluptuous woman. The purpose of models is to model the clothes, to be a human clothes hanger and be as skinny as one to boot. Women have watched and lifted these models up as the ideal. Men could care less. As long as a woman isn't a huge blob, there is a man out there who wants her.

i have never been thin even at my lightest i was a size 16 but believe it or not i was happy at this size i looked good and i felt good however i got ill with depression and the tablets i was on made me balloon which did not help the way i felt especially when i picked up a magazine and it was all lose weight quick or the models were less than half the size of me i'm now a size 18 and i'm beginning to learn to love me again and trying to eat sensibly there is far to much pressure on women having to look a certain way

I do feel that, for the most part, it is a battle we can't win. I don't want to speak for all women, but I know for mysef.... even if I ever reach my goal weight, I will find something else to be unhappy about with my body.

I've already lost quite a bit of weight, but I'm not really any happier than I was before. I still focus on the flaws rather than the improvements... like, I hate that my chest is so small... stupid 32A. Ugh.

I'm a size 12 but am overweight for my height, I'm trying to lose weight at the moment but I'm doing it for me so that I feel happier and healthier not because someone has told me I need to.
