Shin splints? please help especialy if you know sports medicine!?!

Question: ok so in high school i ran up in till seinor year cross country and track... i wasn't the best but i was pretty good... 3 years after i stopped i am trying to get back into it... i joined my jr colleges track team and have been really running for probably 2 months now and i am starting to get really sore after practices... i am stil very out of shape and very slow but i have been running alot... recently i have been doing some strides and they are killing me... anyway after practices i am very sore... i stretch after practice and sometimes randomly during the day but it doesnt seem to help at all... one of the things that is really worrying me is my insides of my shins... not the front but it feels like a long strip on the inside is very sensitive and when i try to massage it it really hurts... is this the beginning of shin splints? what can i do to prevent this... what i really need is all the information there is on my situation... running, stretching, injuries like shin splints

First of all are you wearing the proper shoes for your foot? If you have pronating problems you may need to get some shoes with more cushioning. See if you can find a shoe store nearby that can get you hooked up with a proper pair.
Secondly the surface you are running on could be contributing largely to the pain you are experiencing, is it possible for you to switch up your running venue temporarily, such as a grassy field instead of a track??
Third I love ice baths and what they do for me. If your school has the equipment I would take advantage of it. 10 minutes in an ice bath is equivilent to two days rest. It will work wonders. If your school does not have one fill a bath tube or some big container with cold water and dump some ice in it. Make sure to wear something on your feet so they don't freeze...stand/sit in it for 10 minutes (NO LONGER!!!).
Fourth as painful as it is keep stretching the area out
Finally start taking some ibeuprofen (or something similar) to alleviate any discomfort you have to and to start minimizing any swelling that might be there. I would take some every 4 hours until you get the shin splints under control. BEFORE you run will make your workout more comfortable, but take it with some food.

Hope this helps!!
