A daily multi-vitamin is a good idea no matter your diet. Can't hurt, and might help. Is not a "food" and won't likely have any affect on your energy level if you're a reasonably healthy person anyway.

If you eat whole grains instead of white bread you can still eat breads & pasta and lose weight.

B, D, and especially Folic Acid, which is incredibly important, especially for women, because if you get pregnant, and haven't been consuming enough Folic Acid, your kid can have birth defects.
It HAS to be at the time of conception. You can't conceive, THEN start taking them, it's too late.

It's pretty easy to just read the bread labels to see what stuff they add to it.
Also, there's a bit of protein in bread.
