Stretch now, take a bath, eat some bananas (apparently helps soreness), drink a lot of water, warm up a little before you run, and stretch before you run.

OK well this is a "toughie"! I would definitely suggest getting some sleep (at least 8/9 hrs. if possible). Also if your getting knee surgery then try to take it easy, you don't want to make your knee worse than it already is. Remember that if your knee hurts don't try to be the person that finishes first...OK?

You should study TI CHI it will teach you how to balance yourself so wen you are doing your runs try turning the opposite direction from what you usually do and try not to lock your knees wen standing this is bad for your knees and the knee that is bad you might try taking a section of insole and adding it to the toe of your shoe on the bad leg and at night sleep with your feet flat against something instead of letting them lean over this puts your knee and hip in an odd position a good way to remind you to turn the opposite direction is to put an ankle weight on the opposite wrist and practice thought the day by turning left more often than right unless you are left handed this is not easy thing to do since everything is made to accommodate right handers and good luck on your laps

I would say with your knee, don't do it, but if your not going to bend to my will, the best thing you can do to prepare in such a short amount of time is a really good cardio warm up make sure you pay special attention to warm up your knees ankles and hips. Another thing which has helped me with my knees and muscles in the past has been to rub cold-pressed flax oil on them as opposed to harmfull chemical concotions like tiger balm and deep heat etc (There was a girl who actually died from using those creams on her legs after running). Just another thing to note: afterwards if it's sore ice it 20mins on 20 mins off, stretch and drink lots of water!
