Exactly how accurate is my bike's calorie counter?!

Question: I'm too sore to get back on the damn thing at the moment so I can't tell you how many Kms I'm doing but let's just say it's not slow and not fast, and I sweat a lot. It's at a resistance of 2. I go for at least an hour and today it displayed approximately 890 calories burned. Do you think that's true? :/

no.. i work out at gym for 2-6 hours per day..and I bike alot. I go at resistance 7 and keep my watt workload over 200 the hole time.. in an hour on the bike it tells me iv lost 660-700 calories. and im sweating at the end like you wouldnt believe. I think your counter is broken, especially at resistance 2.

but its good your trying to stay healthy.. it doesnt matter how many your burning as long as you keep going and make sure your pushing your self. sitting there peddling if its not hard wont do nothing. if you work up a good sweat it seems like your doing ok!

It isn't very accurate. How many calories you burn has a lot to do with how much muscle mass you have. The exercise equipment only goes by weight, height and age approximations.

However, it is still a good guage to go by to tell how you are doing compared to previous workouts. Keep a log of how many you burn each day and try to improve on that each time. You will be too tired to beat your record on some days, obviously, but try to at least get with in 10 percent of your best each time.
