Answers: ...and is it correct that oatmeal contains as much as 14%?
Your best source of protien after meat, eggs, and nuts would be anything derived from soy, such as soy milk, tofu, and soybeans. After that are most beans such as black, pinto, kidney, etc. Split peas are very high in protien as well.
Other good sources are whole grains such as brown rice, wild rice, barley, oatmeal, and buckwheat.
There are veggies that contain protien, just small amounts, like 2 or 3 grams per serving. Some of them would be broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, kale, potatoes, yams, beets, artichokes and asparagus.
Try edamame!
Beans and rice eaten together have the best vegetable protein. Oatmeal and other grains have good amounts of protein, but not complete protein, adding milk or nuts or both improve the protein content.
