cardio 2nd...

there is only a limited supply of muscle glycogen available. if this is used up during cardio then you can't train with weights at a high enough level of intensity to warrant any benefits.

warm up with 10-15 minutes of cardio to get the heart rate elevated. perform your resistance training, then finish up with the remainder of your cardio.

cardio second

It doesnt matter, I actually run to the gym for a quick warm up (5 minutes) then lift weights. I prefer to do my cardio after lifting so I dont get all the equipment I use super sweaty.

However before or after the only thing you are effecting is your energy levels.

Do both cardio and lifting. But on days that you do both. Do lifting before your cardio and you will maximize your fat burn.

So Example :

Monday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio
Tuesday - 1 hour lifting
Wednesday - Rest
Thrusday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio
Friday - 1 hour lifting
Saturday - Rest
Sunday - 30 mins lifting then 1 hr cardio
