How do I motivate myself to exercise?!

Question: Besides 12 ounce curls, I don't do much of it.

Answers: Besides 12 ounce curls, I don't do much of it.

you need to get ocd about it or something. I have a problem where I compulsively jog. If I'm not feeling 100% normal, I want to jog. It keeps me fit and helps me to not go insane. You like pain right? So, when your legs or lungs hurt,....start sprinting.
My advice may not be healthy, but it is still advice.

I could do that.
WORK OUT !!!!
Actually instead you have to get me a coffee. And spike it.
Now move!!!! Report It

  • Just stop eating all that bacon Yak, that should do it!

Find a hot chick in a bikini, and pay her to run away from you. If you catch her, you both win .....

    * The exercise part: running after her & 'catching' her .... *
    (wink, wink)

START ENROLLING YOURSELF INTO A GYM, RUNN, DO SOME SIT UPS, OR MY FAVORITE-SWIMMING!

    visualization.

find a photo of how you would like to look or how you used to look

pin it up on your mirror, fridge...wherever you go when you get lazy or can see it.

your next step is wanting to look like the pic again. so you have options: find a gym and join it, buy the equipment for your home, do sit up and push ups and other routines at home...etc.

I've been working out for over 15yrs and motivation comes from anywhere for me still to this day. From staying in shape b/c I played sports in hs and college to wanting to bodybuild to boxing, track to getting in shape for a 15K....anything.

only you can unlock the door to your total motivation. people can only take you so far.

start with push ups and sit ups then go to cardio three times a week.

In contrary of using a bikini chicks picture, i use muscular bloke's picture (im straight) to motivate me to exercise..

i think it works on me..

get a gym partner because being by yourself can be boring

I just got a treadmill and we placed it in front of the TV. When I'm running, I usually see people on TV with a body that I'd like to get somday. Seeing what I could be just motivates me to work that much harder and run that much longer!

Swimming is good exercise. Have someone take you a few miles out from shore and leave you there.

jog to the store when you're on a beer run, instead of driving.

if you are over weight or have had a bad thing happen to you because of your weight, size, etc use those things to your advantage. I was broke up with by a girl a couple of months ago so she could date another boy, who was stout to say the least. I used that as my motivation, and lost 20 pounds of fat, then turned around and put on 10 pounds of muscle, now i am buff and i use all my new found attention to get back at her, because girls are always wanting to hang out with me. so use something along the lines of that as motivation

Everyone has a different motivation...it's whatever will ultimately work for YOU! Since I don't know you, here are a few suggestions and I would say that you could just keep trying a different one until you find one that works for you:

    1. Take a photo of yourself at your ugliest, and put it on top of your alarm clock.
    2. Subscribe to a fitness magazine.
    3. Watch infomercials one night when you can't sleep...ignore the gimmick being sold, but look at the before-and-after photos.
    4. Ask yourself a motivating question that you've written down in a conspicuous place, like the refrigerator. The one I used to quit smoking said, "How can I make it one more day without intentionally harming myself?"
    5. Make an appointment with a personal trainer/nutritionist and ask for true stories of their other clients during the appointment.
    6. Look at a picture of yourself when you were more fit (maybe high school?), and ask yourself what you did then to stay that way.
    7. Buy a tee shirt that is currently too tight (or loose, if you want to build up muscle). Hang it on the back of your bathroom door so you see it every time you get out of the shower.
    8. Find a buddy that works out, and ask if you can join him or her.
    9. Commit to fourteen straight days of some form of exercise that's reasonable, like a half-hour walk.
    10. Fall in love!

Good fortune to you...everyone has a different motivation, so don't give up if you try things that don't work for you.

Take a nap and think about it!!!!

Start a program (rowing, gym, any sport you prefer) that has a set time and preferably has people relying on you. If you can find a team sport (such as rowing, which is what I do) you will be motivated because if you don't go, you will let people down. Also, the social side of it makes it a lot easier.

I suggest a sexathon ....burns calories and its fun..maybe invite the neighbors or maybe people from here...let me know how much you lose.

Eat all of your meals sitting naked in front of a mirror. If that doesn't work ur hopeless.
I don't believe for a minute that anonymous up there is straight staring at pics of half naked lubed up men all day
