Will I get fat?!

Question: I just quit smoking and I was wondering if I am going to gain weight. I am not a snacker at all, so I don't have to worry about that.

Studies have shown now that there is, indeed, something that changes in our metabolism. It does slow down for some people, and even though they aren't eating more, they still gain weight. I would suggest doing a lit bit of cardio during the time you quit just to keep your metabolism up. Also, DRINK WATER. Water increases our metabolism by 3%!! That alone may make up for the slowing down caused by quitting smoking. Good luck! You can do it!

The reason smokers gain weight is because they snack instead of smoke. Smoking helps curb an appetite... so as long as you don't snack then you shouldn't!

Even if your not a snacker and your quitting smoking, you may tend to want to do something with your fingers and that usually ends up with snacking. When you want a cig and head for the snacks, think to yourself, am i hungry? If your not hungry don't eat! Then go find something to do with your fingers. Like typing or something. Crochet. Somethign you like to do. And make the feeling go away!

Good Luck.

you shouldn't..
