my husband had weight problems, when the dr told him he had type 2 diabetes hbp high cholesterol it was like oh well! But , i took care of all that , i do the cooking and I changed alot of my cooking habits, he still gets his meats and potatoes only cooked different with many seasonings that aren't bad for you. plus soak peeled potatoes over night in pan of cold water in fridge draws out starch and all. my husband was 250lbs. now 205 since 3/07. Good Luck!

YOU can't do anything, HE has to want to change. Personally, I'd take out a life insurance policy on him, this might encourage him to realize that he is killing himself with his diet. But often, it takes a near death experience like a heart attack to get these guys to change anything.

Start cooking it bad.....haha

Or start with cutting down all of the portions......calories taken in less than calories burned will equal weight loss....Its that simple. the hard part is getting used to that.

Try to get him to drink water instead of the soda. It will be a hard battle but if he starts getting used to it, then the works is over. Anyone who drinks soda on a regular basis can lose 5-10lbs a month just by switching to exclusively water.

For other meal ideas if he'll eat a salad before dinner (with light oil dressing) you might be able to play a game I like to call "Portion Control" Let him eat as much salad as he wants but give him 60-80% of what he normally eats at dinner.

Enjoy. Let me know how it goes.

First of all, he needs a reality check. Either he change his habits or he's going to die of a heart attack, get diabetes, or something that won't be very pleasent. So like it or not, HE is the one who has to change his ways. Won't eat any veggies? What is he, 5???
Look, small changes will make a big difference. Change from white rice to brown rice. Use less salt and sugar (or use substitues) in your cooking. As for the soda - no mas... it's time to make fat boy grow up or he's gonna DIE!

Your doctor should have reccomended a nutritionist... that's what he needs along with exercise!

Give him what he wants ;-)
1 week meat all day + vegetables (fresh or boiled)
1 week rice and potatoes + vegetables
What I can suggest you as well is to try for 1 week Winter diet (replace vegetable day with corns)
Other solution is Atkins diet - however I know many people (me too) which have gained their weight back after a year or so.
Very important is to exercise and to change the diet every 2 weeks! Not heavy exercises, just walk for 1 hour per day,
Good luck!

well, your husband needs to want to change his lifestyle.

u can help him out by cooking only healthy things and he can make the choice to eat it or not to eat it.

buy only water, for juices makes sure its 100% real juice

buy no junk food, only nutritious snacks

your husband will probably just buy his own junk but at least your not the one helping him get fat.
