On a $400 food budget for the next 4 months, i would like to eat healthy?!

Question: So i have about $100 a month to spend for food next semester, what are some good ways of eating healthy? I'd like to stay away from junk food such as cans, kraft dinner and all that unhealthy stuff.

My sister goes to a college where if she doesn't use all her dining hall money, she gets money back and can spend it on groceries. She buys ramen and diet pepsi. I don't recommend this diet to anyone.

I'd say: buy a box of mixed cornflakes, the kind with nuts or clusters or other flakes in them. If you buy four boxes, you can make those last at least one month if you eat a meal from it once a day or more. Also buy a bag of apples. Those will last you two weeks till you can buy another bag of something like oranges. Buy bananas at least once every two weeks. For the milk, you can buy a box of the dehydrated stuff for six to thirteen bucks and it will last you longer than the expensive jug milk will last! You should be willing to go to the grocery every few days if you don't want any canned food. Buy yourself veggies every few days, such as a sweet potato, an eggplant, a squash, zucchini. You can learn to cook interesting things with these that will last, especially if you do buy some of those little twenty-nine cent "stars" or estrellas or cheapest boxes of spaghetti noodles. Make sure to get tomatoes too. Each thing I've listed gives something important for your body. The meat can come from the cereal and milk, but you could also buy a big bag of skinless boneless chicken breasts once every two months and get it that way too.

Getting the feeling you will learn more recipes this semester. :D Good luck.

1) Eat locally sourced meat and vegetables.
2) Cook it yourself.

Thats the cheapest and healthiest option.

Eat fresh and natural. Eggs, poultry, fish and vegetables along with some complex carbs like oatmeal, yams potatoes. Dont forget 2-3 servings of fruit a day. Simple!

If you want to eat healthy go to trader Joe's or whole foods and do your food shopping there, fruits are always good substitutes for snacks and $100 dolloars is enough for a one person to live on just look around.
