Blood tests for heart condition?!

Question: Blood tests for heart condition?
Last week I went to the doctors and had some blood tests done to check the condition of my heart. However, I was not really told what they would be looking for from these blood tests. Does anyone know what they look for in the blood when looking for heart conditions? The nurse took 3 samples.
Thanks

Most likely the blood work included tests to evaluate your risk for heart problems. For example, a cholesterol or lipid panel and high-sensitivity c-reactive protein (hs-CRP), a measure of inflammation. Probably also a chemistry panel of several tests of electrolytes, liver and kidney function and the like, and maybe a complete blood count (CBC).
Other than with an acute heart attack or some other severe heart problems, no blood test can tell much about the actual condition of a person's heart. Other kinds of tests (EKG, echocardiogram and the like) are needed for that.

I
Myself recently had bloodwork done, from what I understand it can check for problems but isn't the best option for certain diseases, although I'm sure it is very effective in showing heart damage or previous heart attacks.
