Question: I just got my lab result for thyroid and my TSH is 0.049, while my FT4 is 108. Is that dangerous?
I have a year old baby and would like to continue breastfeeding. DO I have to start medicines right away ?

That is really up to your doctor. You are quite hyperthyroid, so anti-thyroid medication is likely what you need. You cannot breast feed while taking anti-thyroid medicine, it's excreted through your breast milk.



I've taken thyroid replacement pills for over 11 years now,including when I was pregnant with my son 8 years ago.There is no danger to the baby, in taking the thyroid replacement pills that your body is lacking.I did not breast feed,so it's best to ask your Dr. weather you can still breast feed while on the pills,although since it's a medication that your body is lacking and it will make your thyroid function normally,then I don't think it is a danger to your baby,but just to be safe,I would ask the Dr.



Normal TSH is .3 - 3, so yours is low, indicating HypERthyroidism. You need to also INSIST on testing for antibodies (may have Grave's disease). There are 3 possibles...meds are one. This is serious...you need to see an Endocrinologist.
