The first test to do, at home, is to measure you vaginal pH.
you can buy a vaginal pH kit from the nearest medical store. It's also called nitrazine paper.
now, normal vaginal pH is acidic, anything below 4.8 is ok.
if you get a high pH, i.e more than 5, this leaves you with 2 differential diagnoses: bacterial vaginosis or trichomoniasis.
in your case trichomoniasis is more likely due to the apparent inflammation.
in either disease of those 2 mentioned earlier, the treatment is the same: metronidazole.
given the safety and efficacy of this drug, i suggest taking it even before diagnosis, if symptoms are alleviated just by taking it, this method by itself is diagnostic (you may call it the Dr. House approach).
one common precaution: avoid alcohol while taking metronidazole.
if your pH is ok, i fear cervicitis or a pelvic inflammatory disease, although most unlikely.
i hope this was helpful.
Hi,
Vaganitis is simply a yeast infection. If you have not had to before you need to do to the dr to get the proper dianois. They probably need to do a pelvic EXAM.Take it from some one that know.i have had several and am dealing with on now.I go back monday he said will have to do Pelvic Exam if not better
This could all be somewhat normal - your discharge that you have changes weekly, depending upon your hormones. Wearing a pantiliner is one way to stay fresh. It could also be a sign of bacterial vaginosis which any female can get and you can go to WebMd.com and type in this term and read up on this condition. Often, antibiotics are needed to clear this up when present. Lumps can be plugged oil glands in the area and soaking in a hot/warm bathtub is often the treatment of choice for these. Redness can be simple irritation from too tight clothing/jeans. Your family doctor needs to be your best resource for taking care of this - consider making an appointment.
