what are the effects of smoking tobacco while carrying a baby....?

I smoked during two pregs...(I know, not the best scenario). The most likely effect would be lower birth weight and premature birth. Neither of these are likely to be to any extreme (My children were born 2 wks & 1 mo early with weights of 6 & 6.5 lbs) My doc acknowledged that if trying to quit while preg would put increased stresses...cutting down would suffice. However, if at all possible quitting is the best option...and being preg might be your best shot at ever giving it up. Congratulations and good luck!
