OK, I had been told that these tests often meant nothing so I asked my oncologist why she did them. She said that basically she just uses them as a guide. If they stay low she lulls herself into a false sense of security and if they rise then she starts to look and see if there is anything to worry about. This sounds just what your oncologist is doing. I know you must be very worried, I would be too, but I do know of a lot of women with breast cancer and advanced breast cancer whose tumour markers have been very high yet their scans show nothing. I know of one woman whose were always very high and her oncologist just stopped doing them because they were stressing her out too much and they could never find a cause. I have known women who have had them go up, then come down again the next time. Don't panic at this point, it could well be nothing. Good luck.
What did your oncologist say?
If you are to have another test in a week it sounds as if the results were inconclusive.
Anyone other than your oncologist, who has your full medical history, would only be guessing what this might mean.
