Hemodialysis affects different people differently. Some people experience extreme fatigue after treatments, some barely notice them. There's no reason why you can't work around the treatments, possibly even having the dialysis done in the evening so you wouldn't have to miss work, if you can tolerate it.
And stick to the diet and fluid restrictions as closely as you can, since that will keep you in better shape between treatments.
There is also an alternative form of dialysis which is done by running fluid into your abdomen, leaving it there for a period of time, and then draining it out again. You can do this at home and at night while you are sleeping. You might ask your renal specialist about this. It's called percutaneous abdominal dialysis, or PCAD for short.
Good luck on the transplant. And it's not necessarily true that you will be on antirejection drugs for life. There have been some studies lately that indicate that you can stop them after a certain period of years.
