7 year old daughter has had a headache & fever for almost a week now?!

Question: 7 year old daughter has had a headache & fever for almost a week now?
I am calling the dr. tomorrow but if anyone has any insight please let me know because I'm starting to worry. On Tuesday she was fine all day & then that night she got a really bad headache & fever almost out of nowhere & then she started throwing up. She threw up several times until late the next morning but her left eye was really red & dry & she had a headache most of the day. The next morning she seemed fine so I let her go to school. Well I ended up having to pick her up at noon b/c her headache & fever came back & her eye was bothering her a little too. her fever wasnt too bad on that day though & she started feeling better after I picked her up. She had a mild fever & headache that night though, but friday she was fine all day till that night her headache got really bad again & her temp got really high it got up to 103.8, but I was able to get it to come down with tylenol. She also had been having pain in her left eye & we had to put eye drops in it because it was so dry & wouldnt stop watering. She felt like she would throw up a few times but never did. Since then every day she seems mostly ok during the day other than her being tired & resting a lot,but then at night her fever & headache will gradually start getting worse until she goes to bed & I have had to give her tylenol everynight. Her eye doesnt seem to bother her anymore, but she has been congested in her nose, so I'm wondering what is going on to make her head hurt so much & her fever to still be lingering nearly a week later? I have been making sure shes been drinking plenty of water so I dont believe the headaches are dehydration headaches Im hoping its just a sinus infection but I would think her fever would be going away by now. If anyone has an idea of what could be going on please tell me. I'm going to try & get her to the dr. tomorrow, but I dont have an appointment..

I am a pediatric nurse and from what you have written it seems to be an infection, it would help to know what the fevers have been. I will say that the day it was 103, I would have recommended that she go to the ER. Any time you have fevers above 101 in a child that age that goesn't completely resolve after one or two doses of childrens Motrin or Tylenol warrants a doctor visit. If she has a stiff neck, I recommend you head to the ER tonight and get tests run to be sure it's nothing serious. There are some potential conditions that those are triggers for and there is also the possibility that she just has a virus especially if she is in school. DEFINATELY GET HER LOOKED AT. Better safe than sorry.

Work in pediatric nursing at the prest time for over 10 years. RN
