If it's an airborne virus YES
The influenza virus can be transmitted by both airborne transmission and direct contact. The virus is shed in the mucus secretions of infected people, starting about 1 day before symptoms appear and lasting about a week. Airborne transmission means tiny droplets are produced in a sneeze, cough, etc. The biggest droplets settle out of the air quickly, but some of the tiniest droplets can stay suspended in air for some time.
If you didn't have direct contact with the person or with another object they touched, and they didn't sneeze, cough, yell in your face, or give you a big sloppy kiss, your chances of infection are pretty minimal. But your best bet is always a flu shot!
Medical school, and of course a little wikipedia refresher course
Germs + bactira can spread quick sometimes so it could be possaible, also depends on what flu it is
