Polio vaccine and polio overseas?!

Question: Polio vaccine and polio overseas!?
We are a military family and are hoping to be stationed overseas soon!. Our pediatrician thinks the polio vaccine is a waste of time, pain and money!. If we were staying stateside I'd probably agree, but I'm worried about her contracting polio in Europe!. Do you think I should get her the vaccine or skip it because there's no polio threat anymore outside of developing countries in Africa and Asia!? Any links to where there have been reported cases of polio would be helpful and any info regarding polio as a threat are also welcome!. Thanks!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
if you are going to be in europe, and you will not have contact with people from regions where polio still is a problem, then you need not bother!.

but if you think you are going to developing countries, or you will make friends with people from those countries, who will then come to your house and possibly expose your chil(ren) to illnesses including perhaps polio, then you should get the vaccine!.

remember that any vaccine carries risk and you have to balance the risk in the vaccine against the probability of infectionWww@Answer-Health@Com

Just get the vaccine!. There have been three cases in Bulgaria and Georgia!.!. but those countries are quite far East!. Anyway, just get the vaccine!. There have even been cases of polio in the US in recent years!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
