Painful glands?!

Question:

Painful glands?

I'm going to the doctor tomorrow.. but hopefully someone can give me a heads up..
I've had some pain in my lymph nodes.. my neck, armpit and groin, with no real swelling that I can tell, for a couple of weeks. I've been a little more tired than usual, but other than that, no other symptoms.
I had unprotected sex (with someone I later realized I couldn't trust) in december, and had an HIV test in April that was neg. So I don't think I have symptoms of HIV.
If anyone can provide any insight, I'd appreciate it.

Answers:

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was married for 14 yrs. and then divorced for 3 before I decided to date.
I met a guy through family and we hooked up, to make a long story short, he wasn't the man I thought he was.
I RAN to have a HIV test done along with other V.D. panels and it was the most nerve racking 9 mos. of my life.
First you have to wait about 2 weeks before your first test, then again in 3 mos, 6 mos and 9 mos.
Even though the tests were coming up neg. I was still finding myself with every possible symptom of HIV/AIDS.
I did eventually make myself sick from it.
I had swollen and sore glands I was having night sweats and eventually I ended up with strep throat.
Hard lesson to learn.
If your glands are painful but not swollen then I would think you are doing what I and other people who have had this concern have done, make ourselves sick.
You have done the right thing to make the appointment, I am sure you are not suffering from HIV but probably some other kind of virus that has nothing to do with STD's.
The symptoms you are describing are one of the symptoms of HIV, BUT they also describe many other things.
I was told by the nurse who counseled me for my test that 80 to 90% of all people who are exposed and infected to HIV show no symptoms EXCEPT those same people usually experiance flu like symptoms in aprox. 2 weeks after bieng infected. but they just chalk it up to the flu. I didn't have the flu 2 weeks after I slept w/ him the first or last time so I had a little reprieve from my panic.
You should just relax and remember you took a test and the tests they have now are very accurate ( not like 10 years ago ) so, just go to the doc. and get some antibiotics for what is probably strep. or some other treatable and curable infection.
have tried to check your symptoms on Web MD?
It is a very helpful web site and it's free.
Good Luck to ya !
