Any good and cheap flea killers?!

Question:

Any good and cheap flea killers?

Our dog has so many all over him .Not too long ago (3 weeks or so) we got him a flea collar and he still itches like crazy.

Answers:

It isn't necessary to use sprays or bombs to kill fleas. Go to the laundry aisle at the grocery store and buy a box of Borax. You will find it with the laundry boosters. Some grocery stores don't have it, but most do.

Sprinkle the Borax on your carpets, let it sit for a couple hours, then vacuum it up. You may have to do it again in a couple weeks when new flea eggs hatch. After that, you only need to do it again if you see a flea. I haven't seen a flea in my house for years, and I have dogs.

If your lawn is also infested, it might take a little longer to get rid of them, because pets will bring fleas when they come in from outside. You can spray your lawn with something that will kill them. I'm not sure about using Borax on the lawn. I don't know whether it would kill the grass.

When you sprinkle Borax on your carpet, don't let the pets lick it. It isn't poisonous, but can make them sick. And, if you have sensitive lungs, wear a mask when you vacuum it up. It can be a little irritating to the lungs, although I have never had a problem with it. Borax is so much better than all the toxic chemicals they sell to kill fleas. Our pets haven't had fleas in years, and we never put anything on them, not even a flea collar. And it has been a long time since I have even had to use the Borax.

When I mentioned this method to the vet, he took a jar down from his shelf and told me it was Borax. That's what he uses.
