Back Brace Indicated for Correcting Adult Scoliosis?!

Question:

Back Brace Indicated for Correcting Adult Scoliosis?

i am 26 years old and i have been diagnosed with scoliosis. i have no medical insurance and care credit has rejected my application for financial assistance. the chiropractor who initially diagnosed the condition through x-rays cannot treat me as my finances currently stand.

i sought a second opinion before i learned that financing was not an option, and was advised to seek treatment at a scoliosis specialty hospital in phoenix (i live in kc, can't afford chiropractor, how can i afford extended travel out of state, plus medical expenses?) where i would be fitted with a brace for 3 to 6 months (again, how would i be able to be away from home that long, while raising 2 toddlers?)

is there any proven remedy for adult scoliosis? could i obtain a back brace somewhere besides a hospital or scoliosis center that could help me? i am in constant pain & can barely pick up or carry my children any more.

i already take 1000mg acetominophen along with 600mg ibuprofen several times per day & i worry about damaging my stomach lining... i would really like to be able to eliminate the need for pain medication or at least reduce the amount required to provide relief.

the chiropractor estimated that i have about a 10 degree curvature, with the sharpest angle right at the base of my neck between my shoulders.

my right shoulder is an inch higher than my left, and my right hip is a half-inch lower than my left.

he also recognized whiplash damage in my neck, but i can't remember ever being in an accident or other situation that could have caused it.

the chiropractor who initially diagnosed my scoliosis suggested a course of adjustment & therapy treatment; the second opinion guy wanted to put me in a brace... since i have no medical ins. & lack the financial means to pay for treatment, i wanted to know if there was anything i could do on my own.... such as obtain a scoliosis brace...

what would be the best course of action to improve my quality of life?

Answers:

a back brace can be ordered by a therapist, you can get a generic one at a health supply and some pharmacies, the brace won't cure the problem, but it will help
