What to expect- Endoscopy tomorrow?!

Question: What to expect- Endoscopy tomorrow!?
My doctor told me that I'll be sleepy but didn't specify if I'll actually be fully asleep or not!. I hate needles and I faint every time I just get a finger prick!. They're also going to be drawing blood from me at the same time!. How many needles should I expect!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You will get an IV!. That's one needle!. Depending on their policy, they may be able to draw blood at the same time, but it's more likely the blood will be a different needle!. They'll use the IV to give you "conscious sedation" that means that you will be "asleep" but you will be breathing on your own (unlike major surgery)!. You will be at a point that the doctor will be able to wake you up enough to get you to follow a command (swallow, or roll over)!. You will be able to physically follow the command, but may need prompting because you may fall asleep in the process!. After the procedure you are not likely to remember anything during the procedure, even if they woke you up briefly!. Some people don't talk at all, others talk a lot while they are waking up from conscious sedation!. You won't likely remember that part either!. They'll watch you closely, take your blood pressure a lot while you are waking up!. Good luck!. Don't forget: don't eat after midnight and take someone with you who will remember what they tell you when you're through (because you might not) and to drive you home!. Www@Answer-Health@Com

I had an endoscopy not too long ago!. The only needles are the IV and they'll probably draw the blood at the same time so you won't feel two pricks!. The sedative isn't as powerful as those used for surgery, so there is a chance you could wake up, though it's not very likely!. You'll be sleepy the rest of the day and you'll probably have amnesia of the entire day!. It's all normal!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
