Answers:
Hepatits b is a virus that causes inflammation in the liver. It is spread by sexual contact with an infected person, as well as blood to blood contact with an infected person.
I am an infectious disease nurse and teach my patients about the spread of hepatitis b. Here's the scenario I give: Say a patient with hep b gets a nosebleed and gets a few drops of blood on the floor. You don't think it's a big deal and decide to clean it up yourself with the mop. You use the same mop and water to clean the rest of the room. A week later you walk into that same room and slip on the floor, falling and busting open your elbow on the floor. Hep b is a very strong virus outside the body and can live for two weeks. You used hep b infected water to clean that floor one week ago so it's possible that there is still live virus on the floor that you just fell on. Could you have hep b now?
Just a story I use in teaching to provoke thought.
I have included a link below related to hep b and it's transmission.
