Bruises...?!

Question:

Bruises...?

How, exactly do you even get bruises?
Why are some different colors?
(Always wondered that)

But anyway my main question is ;
Is there any way to speed up the healing of a bruise?
I've heard that eating a lot of protein helps..

I got the bruise a few inches below my knee and a little to the left a few days ago. It's only about quarter-sized and it's a green color.
It's not very prominent though...quite faint actually.

Is there any chance it will be gone by Friday?

Thank you. =]

Answers:

well you can get bruises by any kinda physical contact to a part on your body...the soft tissue breaks and that creates the bruise.. when it first occurs the bruise is probably red or purple (that comes from the blood seeping under the skin), then over the next few days it will change to blue or black, then to a greenish color, then finally to brown..the color changes just means the bruise is healing...only thing i could suggest is to ice the bruise and be careful not to get hit there, also drinking plenty of fluids help.. it should be completely healed in about 3-5 days if you take care of it..hope this helps
