Answers:
Actually, alcohol lowers blood sugar!. This is why a type 1 diabetic and type 2 diabetics who use insulin must be very careful!. If they consume too much alcohol without food, their BG levels can drop too low and they can pass out or go into a diabetic coma!. In general, 1-2 drinks with food is OK for a diabetic!. Where those who drink find their BG rising, I would suspect that they are drinking drinks with sweet mixers and the sugars in those are causing the spike!.

Many people assume that because alcohol has carbs, that it will raise BG levels but the alcohol itself more than counteracts the carbs except in sweet alcohols like late harvest wines, desert wines and such!. Best bet, test before and 30 min, 1 hour and 2 hours after just one drink and see how it changes your BG levels!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

yes, unfortunately,as does any kind of alcohol!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
