Question:
I have a really nasty bacterial infection on my legs - one in particular - didn't know what it was to begin wi
Later diagnosed as I think staphyloccocal infection, but bad one - at its worst - looked like I'd been in a car accident...5 weeks of antibiotics previously...Now, 5 months later seems to be reoccuring, any comments please? Obviously, will return to doctor, but wondered if anyone has any experience of this?
Answers:
Staph can be tricky to get cleared out of your system, it may take a couple of penicillin shots to do the trick.
You might want to try something topical, but it has to be together with an antibiotic treatment (taken by mouth or injected).
Wash the wound thoroughly with an antibacterial soap. Dab some hydrocortisone lotion on it, like Nutracort. Twice a day apply an antibacterial ointment, and wash your hands thoroughly after that.
Do not share towels, razors or any item or clothing that has been in contact with the wound. Wash and machine dry your sheets whenever possible (the heat from the dryer kills a lot of germs).
Do this while you get a chance to go get seen.
