How do I know if I have either dust mites or bed bugs?!

Question:

How do I know if I have either dust mites or bed bugs?

I know I'm getting the bites from my bed. I have one on my back, one on my chest, 7 on my hand, 2 on my arm, and two on my head. I cant see any bugs on my matress or my boxspring or anywhere else in the room. So what are these bites coming from and how can I get rid of them?

Answers:

-Everyone- has dust mites. They are too small to bite you, they live on tiny dry flakes of dead skin that fall off you.

Bed bugs are rare these days. I think you can usually see them. They look very much like fleas only bigger.

Of course it could be fleas too, especially if you've got pets. In San Francisco a few years ago there was an infestation of fleas that covered much of the city. The city health authorities were warning people not to wear flea collars on their ankles.

If you can catch some bugs, you can get them identified by an entymologist (try the local college or university). Meanwhile all you can do is change your bedding and vacuum.

Oh, Sexy Hoochie (?) says they're probaby mosquitoes. I hadn't even thought of that, but she could be right! (But how could you take someone seriously who's name is Sexy Hoochie? 8^> )
