What can I do to help with asthma?!

Question:

What can I do to help with asthma?

A friend of mine used to be able to get inhalers, but now he can't because he has no money to afford them and no health insurance. His asthma is pretty sever and he lives in a rural area where there's lots of dust and pollen outside. He can't move either. So I'm wondering if there's anything he can do to help, like something he could add to his diet or a particular exercise? Any advice would be really appreciated.

Answers:

You talked of diet and exercise.
MNot to add anything, from my experience, I will suggest, he should find the offending item in the diet. It is there many times. Like in my case, I found that tomatoes, cucumbers, binjals and capsicum used to make me worse. It used to start with light itching in the ears, progressing to a full fletched attack.
He may start with just two or three items in the diet for a fortnight (this much time is needed to clear any remnant of the offending substances already ingested). After that, hopefully, he will feel much better. He may add any other item he likes, once a week. Include it in the diet if nothing happens. Or, reject it if condition worsens. For pollution, it is necessary to wear a cotton scarf like a face mask, when he is going out. Though it looks odd, it protects. Also, he may try applying a bit of vaseline in the nostrils when going out. If attacks are worse in the nights, he may put 1-2 cloves in the mouth before going to bed, not to eat it, just to let it be there. It helps by its juice.
In exercises, deep breathing exercises will help.
Good luck!
