Hospice help does anyone know advice on this?!

Question: Hospice help does anyone know advice on this!?
I am a hospice counselor and grief counselor!. I usually am a therapist for the families who are very close to a family member dying or for families who just lost someone!. However, I went for an appointment expecting to see a sickly woman and her daughter and I had a session with this wonderful 72 year old woman!. She said she has lung cancer and was told that there is not a cure and she should sign on for hospice!. She said she stopped chemo in May and thinks she may want to die!. As the session went on she said she wasn't sure but she didn't want to hurt her daughters feelings by changing her mind!. She said she thinks she wants to live longer and find a new doctor but her daughter may be hurt!. I think she should get a second opinion but this is so confusing!. I didn't sleep at all last night!. Does anyone know anything about this topic from a professional view!? ThanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
We would need to know the type of lung cancer, the stage, the response or lack of response to previous chemotherapy and what (of many) chemotherapy regimen she had before she stopped in May!. It would certainly be reasonable for her to get a second opinion to reevaluate her case and have another oncologist explain the situation to her!. Regardless of what family members want, the person with the disease is the one who has the power to determine her own management - as long as she is mentally able to make her own choices!.
People often vacillate in this situation!. This is understandable and not unusual!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I believe I would call a psychiatrist or psychologist in on this one, and have them evaluate her!.
Is she suffering from dementia!? Is she wealthy, and her daughter is wanting her to die!? Is her daughter poor and wanting the Mother to die so she can get the house!?
It seems to me that there is something more going on here than what the patient wants!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

A professional counselor should not be discussing a client, with details, on a public message board!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

call a psychiatrist!. Www@Answer-Health@Com
