So I bought a pair of those hypoallergenic studs, got my ears pierced with them in a pharmacy!. After about 2 weeks I took them out to put real 24carat small gold hoops in 'cos the studs were beginning to irritate my ears!. When I took the studs out, ear hole bled a lil!. I cleaned it with TCP and cleaned the gold hoops with TCP aswell, then put them in my ears!. I have been told real gold shouldn't give me an allergic reaction!. But it's been a few days now and the earrings, even though they're small, hurt me a lil in the ear hole!.!.!. I took them out once and there was blood on the needle part of the earring and I could feel a bump inside around one of my ear "holes"!. I've put the earrings back in already, but I think ears are infectedWww@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Try to clean your ears with tea tree oil to promote fast healing!. You shouldn't have changed your studs to hoops that early, even if they were getting irritated!. In the meantime, don't sleep on your side, talk on the phone with that side, and keep your hair clean and out of the way!. Tea tree oil twice or 3 times daily!. Another thing is that if you got your ears pierced with a gun rather than a needle, the cartilidge has shattered into little fissures that are very hard to sterilize and can easily trap infection!. If you think this is the case, soak your ear in sea salt and water for a minute to try and clear the infection out!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You took the earrings out 2 weeks after they were pierced!?

I'm not surprised you're having problems, you should only take them out after 6 weeks!.

You're actually damaging the healing process, which is why you are having problems now!. It doesn't sound like an infection, if it was there would be a lot of puss-like substance seeping from the hole!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You shoudln't take your earings out ofter only 2weeks!. They woun't have healed properly! You should leave them in for at least 6weeks, cleaning them in the morning and before bed, before you change them!Www@Answer-Health@Com

I know what you mean, I'm allergic to nickel which is in pretty much all jewellery you can buy in clothes shops!. It's earrings that give me the worst problems though - jewellery with nickel in it (eg rings) make my finger go green but if it's a nice ring I wear it anyway for a short time (no redness or irritation, just the green oclour that takes a while to fade)!. Earrings are a completely different matter though, and if I wear an earring (ring, stud, anything) with nickel for even just 10 mins my ear starts bleeding and scabs over around the earring!. I wear sterling silver earrings from Claires, they're the only ones I've found that don't irritate my ears (I don't like gold, and I'm told white gold can contain nickel, not worth the risk)!.
I live in the UK and the earrings I buy from Claires are on the cardboard/plastic cards that are purple, not pink!. There's not as big a range compared to their other earrings, and not many of them are dangly, but they don't give me any irritation!. Hope I helped :)Www@Answer-Health@Com
