Question: GOUT Treatment and Precausions!?
My brother is middle age person ,having Gout ,what precausions he should take !? Is it necessary for him to take life time treatment!? he is vegitarian and not diabetic,does not consume alcohol!.tell your experiences also!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

My son has severe flare-ups of Gout!. He takes 100mg of Allopurinol twice a day, every day!. When his Gout is really bad, he takes 0!.6mg of Colchicine twice a day until he gets relief!. The doctor told him that he will always have to take medication for this!. It's very hereditary!. Gout is caused by too much Uric Acid!.
The two main things that make him have a severe flare-up is steak and shellfish (his two favorite foods!. Drinking lots of water to keep the kidneys flushed helps to keep the Gout episodes to a minimum!.
Gout is very, very painful! The joints swell badly and turn red!.
