Try putting some baby or talcum powder down the cast when it isn't too swollen, get just enough and turn a hair dryer on cool to blow it down, add more if needed!. That should help provide a barrier between the cast and leg and prevent it from itching as much!. Itching is a good sign though because it means that it is healing!.
Also you could try some benydryl (oral) to help with any reaction he is having on the skin!. If you do notice any odd skin irritation contact your doctor he may be having a reaction to the cast material!. Hope this helps!. Good luck & God Bless!Www@Answer-Health@Com

Ok, you need to get a small amount of baby powder and pour inside the cast at one end and then use a blowdryer on the cool setting to blow the powder the length of the cast, this will provide a non stick barrier between the cast and the skin, if itching occurs again, repeat the process, i had the same kind of cast about a year and a half ago and this worked like a charm, saw it in a home remedy book!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
The itching may drive him crazy but it is also a good sign!.
Itching is usually a sign of healing!.
Check with the Physician!. They may make some openings
into the cast!. With all of the pins in his leg, it is not a good
idea to insert any substance!. That may lead to an infection!.

He must live with it!. It is a problem has plagued us for quite a long time!.
There is no fix, until he removes the cast!. Sticking ANYTHING inside the cast could break the skin and cause a staph infection which could cost him his leg!.
Give him something else to keep his mind busy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

It's best that you let the doctor know!. Perhaps sweating inside the cast is causing him irritation!. Do not self medicate!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
im not sure if this would work but gold bond anit itching powder!.!. the only problem with this is that the powder might react badly where the pins are!.!. I would go to your local pharmacy and see what they recommend so that nothing irratates his skin!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The doctor told my son to try and keep his cool and it would not itch as bad!. So we put a fan blowing as close to into his cast as we could get itWww@Answer-Health@Com
