my hubby has to have a bone density test done with all the meds that he is on for lupus, what all does it intial!. Has anyone had it done!? thanksWww@Answer-Health@Com

Bone density test is very simple and painless!. It's much like an MRI but without the annoying noise!. He'll have to get an IV for a radioactive agent to be administered so that the scan can pick up an 'hot' areas!. These 'hot' spots indicate areas where the bone may not be as dense as it should be, it can also indicate hard to find bone fractures!. All in all a bone density scan is a very non invasive procedure which can have a lot of benefits by locating problems early and allowing doctors to give preventative treatments!.

I have a friend with lupus!.!.!. and she has bone density tests done often!. Now, I don't know what the procedure is for it (but if you google bone density procedure you should be able to pull up the information to explain this to you)!. However, why they test for bone density is because over time patients with lupis tend to get brittle bones that break really easy!. Im sure this is not too much help to you!.!.!. but there is information out there for you!. Just make sure that the source you use is a reputable one!.
