Diabetes and alcohol?!?!

Question: Diabetes and alcohol!?!!?
Can someone with diabetes drink alcohol!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Diabetics can drink alchohol most certainly! It is a hit and miss game thoguh, and most stray from alchohol just to be on the safe side!. All alchohol will spike a diabetic's blood glucose reading and them (up to twelve hours later) drop it severely!.
My father and I go out for drinks every so often and i really have to watch my glucose readings!.
Alcohol does not only impact a diabetic's readings, it also hurts their liver, and other organs!.
In the end, it is up to you!. I drink occasionally, and I have never ended up in the hospital etc!. from it!. However, i monitor it for a long time afterward and I do not drink more that 8oz of liquor!. Good luck! :DWww@Answer-Health@Com

Alcohol is pure "sugar alcohols" which immediately go into your bloodstream and alter your glucose levels!. I'm a diabetic for over 20 years, when I am really on track, I can have, with dinner consisting mainly of PROTEIN, I will have a little red wine or white wine without a major spike in my glucose level!. If you're talking about going out with the girls and drinking the night away!.!.!.yes, you can do it but be prepared to be deathly sick at the end of the night from a sugar hi and then low and a wicked headache and I don't mean hangover!.!.so, I have come to the conclusion it is not worth it to be sick for days to have a little fun drinking!. Besides, my body is so sensitive to sugar, a half glass of wine and I'm flying high!.!.!.!.!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I've been diabetic since i was 9!.!.!.!.!.

Of course we can!.

We can drink or eat anything we want, as long as we can control it!. It's our life, and we have to control it!.

There's no way I'm never going to have a drink, have chocolate pudding, chocolate sundae!.!.!.!.!.

We have to life with it for the rest of our lives, so enjoy our lives, and learn to deal with it!.

Vodka - no carbs,

High content spirits and no sugar mixers are the way to go!.

Make sure you have some protein/carbs with drinks, and don't get drunk because you won't be able to recognises symptoms!.

Alcohol does tend to lower your blood sugar!.

Keep well, and have fun!.!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

In Moderation just like you can eat chocolate just keep your exchanges in balance!.As an diabetic knows all foods turn to sugar!. You know your body!. Monitor your blood sugars and act accordingly!. As you know it is a difficult to understand and everyone seems to think they are experts, you know you best!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

not very much like only one ounce with or after a meal!. My neighbor's grandson died from a severe low blood sugar episode following a night of drinking!. He thought he had the flu but he actually was suffering from keto acidosis which can be fatal if ignored!. His room mate found him dead!. He failed to recognize the symptoms and get to the ER!. He did not want to take care of himself like he should and wanted to party like everyone else!.!.!.!.he was only 19!.
My daughter is 19 and type 1 diabetic!. She is going to summercamp to work with other teen diabetics!. She knows alcohol is very risky because it can make your blood glucose drop suddenly!. It has never been an issue for her because she is healthy and works hard to stay that way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

They can, but it's not good for them!. They can really harm themselves even more than the diabetes just by itself does!. It sends sugar levels through the roof! Usually a weekend of partying for a diabetic will lead to a trip to the hospital!. Sometimes!.!.!.a younger diabetic drinker can make it more than a few weekends!. I used to know an 18 year old guy that did this once a month!. (ended up in the hospital) I think it's!.!.!.not very smart!. LOL!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

No!. Maybe one in a blue moon!. Beer has a lot of carbs and wine coolers and other alcohols have a lot of sugar in them!. Your blood sugar would go very high, and later drop low!. Drinking causes both of these problems!. I tried when I was first diagnosed, and did not care about my disease!. My blood sugar would drop dangerously lowWww@Answer-Health@Com

Its not a good idea!. I had a good friend in high school that used to drink and he was diabetic!. Thing was, he used to drink all the time and it never bothered him!. One night, it did, he got drunk one night and never woke up!. It was very tragic and I wouldn't want to put anyone through that pain!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

it's best if they don't!. alcohol turns into sugar!. if you have diabetes your doctor should have told you if you can or not, but as a general rule i'd say no don't drink it could screw up your blood sugar really bad!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Once a month won't kill you!.
Every day or every would probably give you over-the-top spiked BSL!.

I wouldn't drink it because of the many sugars in it!Www@Answer-Health@Com

They can but it is a really bad idea! Alcohol is absorbed into the system as a sugar!. It will really mess up a diabetics blood sugar!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Noooo!
Alcohol has so much sugar in it!.
