Do you think medicines like Nortriptylene affects the kidneys or liver and that's why it causes the mouth to feel dry and bitter!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Based on my knowledge the dry mouth you are experiencing is more likely to be correlated with the medications mechanism of action (which is inhibiting the re-uptake or reabsorption of norepinephrine and serotonin by nerve cells in the central nervous system)!. Increased levels of these neurotransmitters is believed to be related to an improvement in mood!. However, this drug has a lack of selectivity for what nerve receptor sites it blocks and also blocks histaminic, cholinergic, and alpha-1 adrenergic sites!. This is what causes the dry mouth!. It really comes down to sympathetic nervous system stimulation (fight or flight response) and blocking parasympathetic nervous stimulation (rest and digest)!. Now that I have confused everyone (including myself:) I have to say I am only a nursing student, so this is based on what I have learned!. If I am incorrect please let me know!. But I can tell you that taking frequent sips of water and sucking on ice or sugarless hard candy (as well as chewing sugarless gum) can help!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

SOME OF MY MEDICATIONS MAKE MY MOUTH DRY SO I KEEP A BAG OF COUGH DROPS TO SUCK ON AND THAT HELPS ME!.
I JUST SUCK THEM AS NEEDED!.
I ALSO DRINK ALOT OF WATER!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
