Question: What would cause a small child to cough blood!?
i'm writing a book and the main character is 8, and constantly has 'attacks' where she coughs blood nad has a pain in her side!.
I don't know much about medical stuff, so i was wondering if anyone knew a disease or condition where that would happen!. and possibly how it happens!.
I need to know becasue i'm writing a scene where she gets the condition [i orginally thought it be something with breathing]!.
If it helps, the story deals with child abuse and if the disease could happen because of child abuse please tell me!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Tuberculosis is the main thing that causes that, but I suppose internal bleeding (probably in the lungs) could cause that too!. Which you could definitely blame on child abuse!.
If you choose tuberculosis, you'll probably need to include the other symptoms - chest pain, coughing (for a couple of weeks), fever, weight loss, etc!.

TB, if someone coughs blood or has a pain in their chest they could have TB (Tuberculosis) Although i'm not sure about how you would get it!. Try Wikipedia:

well the child could of been abused and injured in the upper digestive track which causes people to cough up or puke blood!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
