My dad is 60 and is very old fashioned and full of pride so when hes in pain he doesnt show it!.

we got to the hospital and they done a scan, they said his lungs and everything are fine, my mum said what the GP said and they told us they cant say he has but wont say he hasnt!. told him to rest and sent us home!.

My dads now in pain again, my mum phoned our GP and he looked on my dads record and saw the hospital couldnt see his lungs because it was filled with smokey air (gas) and yet they told us it was fine!.

so now we are waiting 2 weeks for the hospital to put a tube down his throat but hes really hurting (stomach) and weak what can we do!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Pancreatitis has nothing to do with your lungs, but would be visualised with an ultrasound scan!.
Lungs would have an x-ray!.

The tube down the throat sounds like endoscopy used to look at the stomach and small intestine!.

If he's in pain you should check it out at the A&E if it's an emergency, maybe he has an ulcer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your dad really needs to get a 2nd opinion on this - just because a GP says it is all OK doesn't mean you have to accept it if you are still in pain!. Get another appointment with your GP tomorrow - phone as early as you can and tell the receptionist that it is urgent and need an appointment today - like now!! O r as one or two others have said - go to A&E but not at the weekend ( full of drunks etc!)!.
Good luck!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

phone your GP, or the hospital and ask for as much help as possible!. Most likely wont be much help but there's no harm in trying!. Maybe try looking up the sytoms and what you think he may be suffering from online adn you may find methods of copingg with the pain, or maybe even a forum where you can talk to people who have had these symptoms personally, and they may have ways that helped them deal with it!.
Best luck to your father, adn hope the pain dies down!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

You could try asking his Gp to see if the lung test could be brought forward!. If he contacted the hospital department and said it needed doing sooner, that might help!. If you think there has been a problem with the way things have been handled, you could contact the hospital PALS dept who would look into what happened!.

If your dad is really bad, take him to A and E and chances are something would get done then and there!.

Hope he feels better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Many times doctors don't pay much attention to certain conditons!. I am not saying all doctors (only some)!. A good doctor will send him out to get special studies and give Meds if needed!. He or she may choose to refer him to a specailist to keep him under his supervison!. His conditon is serious and if he is in pain he should be in the ER! Hope this helps!. Stay safe and be healthy!

NOTE: Please contact a physican ASAP!!!!Www@Answer-Health@Com

i think all dad can do is take pain killers until he gets back to the doctors or the hospital for his scan!.!.!.i don't think we Yahoo-ers can give advice on this honey!.!.!.but i do hope your dad gets better soon!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Call the emergency doctor outWww@Answer-Health@Com

How sad!. He should be in hospital getting pain management!. Good luck to him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Take him to A&E!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

the best answer is to take him back down to a & e!. and explain situation!. dont leave it!. things could get worseWww@Answer-Health@Com

I would have him transferred to a better hospital who have doctors that know what the heck they are doing! If that was my dad I would want him to have the BEST care and I wouldn't sit around waiting any longer, doctors can't work miracles but there has to be a doctor that can actually take x-ray or ultra sound!. his lungs may be filled with fluid, you make sure they check his lungs again! If he has pancreatitis cancer then it could have spread to his lungs!. If this were me, I would get him out of there, call his primary doctor and tell them what is going on, what they are doing and demand he get professional medical treatment instead of being tossed in a guinea pig hotel!. Don't be afraid to speak up, sometimes you have to or nothing gets done!.
Many hugs, I will be praying for him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Acute pancreatitis is inflammation of the pancreas (and, sometimes, adjacent tissues) caused by the release of activated pancreatic enzymes!. The most common triggers are biliary tract disease and chronic heavy alcohol intake!. The condition ranges from mild (abdominal pain and vomiting) to severe (pancreatic necrosis and a systemic inflammatory process with shock and multiorgan failure)!. Diagnosis is based on clinical presentation and serum amylase and lipase levels!. Treatment is supportive, with IV fluids, analgesics, and fasting!.
Possible Complications:

* Low blood pressure
* Heart failure
* Kidney failure
* ARDS (acute respiratory distress syndrome)
* Ascites (accumulation of fluid in the abdomen)
* Cysts or abscesses in the pancreas
Although pancreatitis isn't always preventable, you can take steps to reduce your risk:
* Avoid excessive alcohol use!. Overuse of alcohol is the leading cause of chronic pancreatitis and a contributing factor in many acute attacks!.
* Stop smoking!. Tobacco use increases your risk of pancreatitis, especially if you also drink alcohol!.
* Limit fat!. Eating a high-fat diet can raise your blood-fat levels and increase your risk of gallstones
