The media stops reporting on things when there's something more interesting to the viewers!. It could be the zombie apocalypse and people would be more interested in who's marrying who in Hollywood than how to save their families!. People are shallow and unless they are dying, they don't want to know about it!. (Just think of how many diseases could have long ago been cured if people were interested enough to donate for research!.)
SARS was basically noteworthy during 2002 and 2003 during the near-pandemic with almost 800 deaths and over 8000 infections!. Since then, the number of deaths and infections have dropped!.
Avian flu is still very much of an issue, with many known cases of interspecies transmission!. (Remember when they were speculating about "if" it could infect humans!?) Up to the end of May, there have been 32 confirmed cases of human infection, with 24 deaths in 2008!. By contrast, in 2007 there were 88 confirmed cases and 59 deaths!. The fear is that H5N1 can become readily transmissible among humans and quickly result in a high-mortality pandemic!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Well they recently made a vacceen for the bird flu, it was just in the paper a few days ago, and sars mostly affects really old people, so its not fit for the mainstream news which has a focus group of 25-40 year olds!.
Besides, bird flu never actually killed that many people, I think only 250 - 300, but if it becomes more fit for humans then it could ''potentially'' wipe out a lot of people, and that is newsworthy!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
