First off, glad you are staying with your partner =) Second!.!.!.I would have your partner go to the doctor asap and get tested!. You can't be certain it is herpes unless you get it tested!. Don't let the doctor just eye ball it and give you a diagnosis!. I've found and heard that some doctors aren't very knowledgable (did I even spell that right!?) about herpes!.
If you suspect it's an initial outbreak the doctor can take a swab of the suspected region and test!. That's really the ideal time to get the test done!. Or, you can request a blood test as well!. Reed the second link below for more specifics!.
Make sure they test for type 1 and type 2 on the test!.

well first off he needs to definitely go get tested jus to make sure!.!.if he does then you need to ask the doctor how to avoid transmission!. I've heard some ppl that are aware of their partner's condition and still decide to have sexual contact!.!.they already know the reprecautions but that might not be in your nature!.!.!.but i've read the best way to avoid transmission and still be physical is!.!.!.while he being treated!.!.!.you can have sex with your partner when he doesn't have an outbreak!.!.cuz the only way you catch it is when they have an outbreakWww@Answer-Health@Com

The best way for you to avoid catching it is for her to get on an antiviral/antiherpes medicine!. This cuts the risk of passing it greatly!. Next, avoid sexual contact during a breakout!. Lastly, you can get it anytime whether she has a breakout or not!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
