Why has autism become more prevalent recently?!

Question: Why has autism become more prevalent recently!?
Answers:
What is considered autism has been widened!. Some disorders have similar characteristics to autism, so they have been included into the Autism Spectrum!. It isn't so much there are more cases, (although that can be argued as well), just that what is diagnosed as autism has increased!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I can remember the days when they said that autism was "under-diagnosed;" meaning that a lot of people with autism were diagnosed with some other problem instead!.
Now some people say autism is "over-diagnosed," meaning some people diagnosed with autism actually have some other problem instead!.
This could be part of the reason for the increase in the diagnosis of autism; but I'm pretty sure it isn't enough to account for it altogether!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

I honestly don't think its become more prevalent!. I think it's more a case, that more studies are being done on it!.

It's kinda like ADD!. I remember back when I was in grade school, no kid was diagnosed with it!. But nowadays, it seems most kids are diagnosed with at least a slight form of ADD or ADHD!. And I'm just talking about the 90's when I was in grade school!.
As more information rolls in, more people fit into the category!.

Edit: post below me:
True, it could be the food!. So many chemicals going into our system can't be good for us or our offspring!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Some people attribute this to environmental causes and a genetic condition, as well as on immunization!.
Being a special education teacher, I have noticed that some children who are labeled autistic have behavioral symptoms which cannot be explained, and thus the label of autism sometimes becomes a catch-all category!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Who knows!? I am guessing genetics play a role!. I think the vaccinations played a role!. Envrionmental factors play a role and our criteria for diagnosing has been lowered from what it was 50 years ago, so when your diagnosing changes, you numbers increase!.
I also know there are plenty of people out there who do not have an official diagnoses and they just say they are autistic or aspergers and they are not, but it seems like there are a lot of these people so that seems to raise the numbers as well!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

The food we eat is the primary cause of most of the illnesses in the U!.S!. Additives and colors will cause these problems as well as diabetes and cancer!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
