Question: My son gets diaherria when he eats peanuts, does that mean ALL nuts will have this effect!?
I want to cook a dinner that has pinenuts in it, but I dont want to get him sick!. How do I know if this will make him sick or not without having him eat it!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

You can have him tested!. There is a simple IGE blood test called Immunocap that you can ask your doctor to order!. You can ask him to go through the list of nuts they can test for and it will let you know if he is affected by all nuts or just certain ones!. It is a much nicer test than the usual skin prick tests!. Quest Diagnostics has the capabilities of doing it!. Babies from 3 mos upto adults can be tested with this technology and you do not have to go off of antihistimines!.

Generally speaking, nuts are nuts, but some nuts contain certain oils that cause the problem!. The best solution at this point is to call a physician!. If this is a known allergic problem, your doctor should know the level of severity (as in diarhea = mild, versus throat closing up and breaking into hives = severe form) and to what level other nut-like products may affect him!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
Pinenuts have a totally different makeup and should not bother him!. If he doesnot get congestion nor a tightening of the throat when he eats the peanut
