Hi,
You probably won't like my answer but the machine is the least of your costs!. You have to buy finger lancet (to prick your finger) and test strips that can only be used once!.

Accu-Chek has one of the least painful processes, but there is nothing pain free!. The OneTouch is not bad either!.

There are often programs that give free machines - they do that because they make their money on the test strips!!

So the question is how controlled is your boyfriend's sugar!. If his doctor isn't telling him he needs daily checks that means he is well controlled!.

As for you, there are periodic health fairs run by medical facilities!. You can get a free test 1-2 times a year that way!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

If you really want to test, go to a pharmacy such as Walgreen's or CVS and look at the selection of meters on the shelf!. They have prices on them!. You can get a cheap one for under $20!.!.!. the issue will be test strips that run about a dollar each!. If you have a friend that is diabetic maybe they will allow you to run a test on their meter!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Wal-Mart's Reli-On brand one is inexpensive and easy, and Walgreens and other major drug chains have a similar one under their generic brand!. The pharmacist can direct you!.!.!.they cost about 30% less!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

At Walmart they carry the brand called ReliOn!. The moniter cost 9 bucks and you can get 50 test strips for around $20!.It's a good little moniter, too!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Those meters are always on sale or on rebate!. It's the strips which are expensive!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Your local pharmacy brand is probably the cheapest kind!. One Touch Mini is a bigger brand which goes for about $20 but it is very basic!. Good luck!Www@Answer-Health@Com

go to a walmart or walgreens they are fairly cheapWww@Answer-Health@Com

Surely you have a friend that has diabetes!. You can share their machine, as long as you change the little pin prickers!. Once you really know for sure that you have it then you can buy or sometimes get the machines free!.
Beware of doctor that send you to hospitals for blood test, I had to pay $549 for the blood test!. I pray you don't have it!. It very hard to find a Doc to treat properly!. Remember Diabetes is a cash cow to the medical industry!. They will milk you dry!.

I moved to Thailand to get great help!. I have a Thai American Doctor!. He has my blood glucose level at 100!. My hba1c is 5!.2!. In the good ole' USA doctors could not get me below 150!. My medicine for diabetes and nerve pain is $100 in Thailand , in America it would be Over $700 a month!. Doctor 's visit is $4!.And you see all the ads on TV about check your sugar, and check it often, Is Bull crap!. A couple times a week is More than enough!.Either you have your sugar under control or you don't!.Repeated checking does not lower blood sugar!. It is DIET, Exercise, And medicine that does the trick!.Oh, and why don't drug companies sell the test strips in individual foil encased strips!. Because they sell them in 25 or 50 to a bottle!. Once you open them you have to use them within 90 days or the don't work properly!.They are licensed crooks!! good luck!.

FREE TO $100 is the range!. I have always used acc-uchekWww@Answer-Health@Com
