I just went to the doctor and she said I had strep throat though it may be mono!. Does anyone know the differnces if they are minor or whatever!. Strep I can deal with because I have the mediciation now but if its mono thats really bad because she said the pain will keep getting worse and I already cant sleep or eat because of how painful it is!. My symptoms are extremely sore throat and swollen glands, and kind of a bit of muscle aches!. Other then that nothing really though!. No fever, no loss of apetite other then refusing to eat because of the pain!. What do you guys think it is!?Www@Answer-Health@Com

Answers:
Strep is a bacterial infection in the throat, which can be cleared up with antibiotics!. Mononucleosis, Mono, or Glandular fever is a virus that causes flu like symptoms for two weeks (fever, chills, muscle aches, swollen glands etc!.)!. Mono cannot be cured with any medication, but something can be taken to ease the symptoms!. It can take up to three years for the virus to clear out of your system!. It causes you to be very very tired and weak for a few months at least, sometimes more if you push yourself too hard while sick!. I had it last year just before exams, sucks a lot!. I'd say you probably just have strep though from your symptoms, no fever and such!.Www@Answer-Health@Com

Did your doctor give you antibiotics!!?!? If so, take them!. If not, get back there asap! You may have strep throat, and need medicine for it yes!. But having strep throat in itself can be an indicator of mono!. You should have a blood test done to be sure, if the medicine for the strep throat doesn't make you feel better overall!.Www@Answer-Health@Com
