That must be your viral load, which counts the number of Hep C virus in 1cc of blood. Your number is considered low. Low viral loads respond better to treatment. However, the viral load does not tell you the amount of liver damage you have, only a liver biopsy can tell you that.

Treatment for Hep C is usually not an emergency so waiting six months shouldn't be a problem.

The two drug companies that make the medications to treat Hep C have programs that will provide the medications for free if you qualify.....

Schering's Commitment to Care (800-521-7157)

Roche's Pegassist Program (877-734-2797)

The fact is...the sooner you treat it, the less damage that will be done.

Your number does not make sense to me, but if you're suggesting that your viral load is only 70,600 -- then that's pretty low (all things considered). You might want to discuss this issue FIRST with a Gastroenterologist that specializes in this disease and its treatment. The treatment is a real pain, but often works to reduce the load. The biggest risk factor for Hep C is liver cancer and failure. Not something you want to take too lightly.

Best of luck.
