How long should diarrhea last?!

Question: Sorry for being gross, but I'd had the serious runs for well over 48 hours. At first, I had fevers and headaches for a day. Now, it's just toilet time. Is over 2 days serious?

Two days is not serious and can be expected. If the diarrhea continues beyond three days, start using an antidiarrheal. If after two more days, you see no improvement, report this to your doctor. Keep up your fluid intake to avoid dehydration and stick to the BRAT diet (Bananas, plain Rice, Applesauce and dry Toast) until you've had no espiodes of diarrhea for 24 hours. After this you can switch to soft, bland foods and if you continue without diarrhea for another 24 hours, introduce your regular diet one or two items at a time.

i would say 3 days tops, then call the doc. You could be getting dehydrated so drink plenty of fluids not apple juice. try white grape juice my doc told me that. hope you feel better

Sounds like you caught some sort of stomach flu! The first few symptoms you felt was your body was fighting it, now you're feeling some uhhh... leftover side effects. Diarrhea isn't serious unless it lasts for a long time. But it's only been 2 days so don't worry! I've had it for up to a week when I was a kid when I catch a type of stomach virus. But make sure you're drinking lots of fluids, when you are "running" you can easily get dehydrated.

If you keep having the runs or more symptoms develop, go to the doctor. It could indicate something else.

Get well soon!

You need to get some probiotics. These can be bought in the supermarket in yoghurts/yoghurt drinks or you can actually buy the capsules from the chemists now.

I've just gotten rid of mine and my husband's diarrhoea with these. My husband was sceptical, but was very pleased when it worked.

Get yourself some Actimel or Yakhult or the capsules are much stronger.
